I have had a weird issue with ATi HD5770 and patch 4.0.6. ever since the patch went live i have had a problem that just out of the blue while ONLY playing wow my monitor will go black for like 5–10sec then come back on. i waited till now to post it casue i wanted to try the new 11.2 driver to see if it may have been a driver problme and it still does it on 11.2 AMD/ATi Driver. i have also installed MSI Afterburner and MSI Kombustor to test my system and i ran it for 2 hours and not once did i have an issue. the black screen is all random i could go on playing for 1–2 hours or 5–10 mins before i get 1 or 2 of them. so i am stumped, any help would great.

The most common causes we see for this behavior are;

1) Overheating Video Card

  • To check for this, you can download and run a program such as PCWizard to monitor the temperatures of your hardware while the game is running at full load, and also while your system is at rest.
  • 2) Overclocked Video Card

  • Change the settings to the default and see if the issue continues.
  • 3) Faulty/corrupted/out–of–date video drivers (Look for VPU recovery messages or «driver crashed and recovered» messages)

  • Try uninstalling and then reinstalling your video drivers, and using a driver sweeper program between installations to clean file fragments.
  • 4) Insufficient or faulty power supply, or faulty cables
