Every time I start the World of Warcraft Launcher, it keeps «Checking For Updates» as well as «Downloading Updates For Blizzard Launcher» before the launcher even shows.

It's like a standard Windows Aero window, with Windows standard progress bar and the World of Warcraft logo in the window.

I suppose what I'm trying to explain is that this isn't the game updating through the launcher, but some process before the actual launcher even appears.

Just checked, and it seems to be doing this with Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 as well.

But this is a constant thing as of last week, every time I start the Launcher, it checks for updates.

Tried clearing «cache» files or folders, as well as run the repair tool on each launcher.

Any advice?

Try this:

1. Make sure that Windows is set to show hidden files.

Here's how to do that:

–Windows Vista/7

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Show-hidden-files

–Windows 8

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/show-hidden-files-in-windows-8/

2. Navigate to the C:\ProgramData folder and delete the Battle.net folder and the Blizzard Entertainment folder.

3. Navigate to the WoW folder and delete the «Updates» folder.

4. Launch WoW as an admin by right clicking on the launcher and selecting «Run as admin».

Let me know what happens.

Can you try the same steps that worked before to see if that helps?

Can you get me a screen shot of the window you are getting stuck on? Also, what security programs do you have installed?

1. Make sure that your version of Flash is up to date.

Here's a link where that can be downloaded: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

***Don't download the McAfee Security Scan***

2. Make sure that your Windows Secondary Logon service is enabled.

Here's how: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/enabling-windows-secondary-logon-ser...

3. If you can, try disabling Microsoft Security Essentials. It doesn't usually interfere with WoW, but it's worth a shot.

No, the pathing shouldn't be a problem. I have my WoW folder on an external drive at home, and agent on the C drive.

I would go ahead an try the reinstall overnight. Then if the issue continues, we can pick this up again tomorrow.

Here's a support article that covers the uninstall process: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/uninstall-reinstall-instructions-for...

Try this to address the 134 error that you got:

1. Navigate to the World of Warcraft folder.

2. Delete the WoW.pfil, WoW.tfil, and WoW.mfil files

3. Go into the World of Warcraft/Data folder and delete the texture.MPQ file

4. Run the launcher as an admin by right clicking on the WoW icon and selecting «Run as admin».

The launcher may need to re–download the deleted files, so don't click the «Play» button until the launcher says it's up to date.

Let me know what happens.

Did you let the launcher completely finish downloading data after running the last set of steps that I suggested?

Go into your Interface folder, do you have a GlueXML folder? If you do, delete it and try running the game again.

Delete the WTF, Cache, and Interface folders. Then bring up the launcher > go to Help up at the top > run the repair tool. Once the repair is done, try the game without making any changes to the settings.
