*repost from customer support forum

I was online and playing perfectly fine last night, got off, & turned off the computer. 8 hours later when I woke up, I'm trying to open client and I keep getting a pop–up window that says «World of Warcraft Retail has stopped working — Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.» instantly when I open the normal client. When I chose the option «Check online for a solution and close the program», the window just closes and nothing happens. I tried clicking both the updater and the direct WoW program because both are on my desktop, and both of them do the same thing. I can't even open Diablo 3, it just gets stuck on a «Checking for updates» pop–up window and never opens the actual client. I have also tried restarting the computer and trying again, but no luck there, either.

I've never had this problem before, so I have no idea where to go from here. I found all the error logs in my WoW folder and will include a link to the picture of one of the reports if that helps my problem at all.

EDIT: I've tried downloading the installer to reinstall, but that wont even open either.

Devs,

I'd like to see the full error log. Please go to the errors folder within your WoW folder (default location: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Errors). Then copy and paste the information from the newest dated text file from there into your reply so we can troubleshoot the issue further.

Devs,

There should be a lot more information included in the error log. Did you include the entire file?

Devs,

Whatever is causing the crash is probably also affecting the WoWerror tool then. That makes it harder to narrow down what's causing this.

Try running the game with all background applications closed.

If the lockups persist, post some information about your computer. You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start

Click on Run

Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)

Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste the dxdiag file into your reply.
