Failed to open a required file.

Please check your internet connection and try again.

Error Code: BLZPTS0000F / Failed to download information about the next patch. Check your network connection.

I have been getting this message all day long since after the patch went live today and I can't even get into the game client. Every time I open the launcher it wants to update tools and then it says checking for updates and I get the above error message and code. I have deleted all the hidden folders in battle.net and cleared out my cache, wtf. and temp folders in my wow program folder in the C drive.

All my anitvirus software is disabled and processes have been terminated manually from task manager and Windows Firewall is disabled. I did read about this error message in the blue stickies at the top of tech support folders and none of their work arounds or solutions are working.

I know they did address to if you are using WIFI or router to please go to a hard wired connection, its not an option for me. I live in a rural area where a hard line or cable connection is not available. My internet comes from my satellite provider and they have a dis h on the roof which sends a signal to a wifi hub in the house, that in turns sends a signal to my desktop and laptop which have connector equipment in them to receive the signal. How do I work around this and get updated to the next patch? Can a blue poster please address this or a forum MVP or techie respond. Any and all help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi Roaront,

Can you boot into a Selective Startup, and list the Running Tasks and Services?

Hit the Windows key + R, and type:

<strong>msinfo32</strong>

Then hit Enter or Ok.

This will bring up System Information.

Click on the + sign next to Software Environments

Click on Running Tasks

Click on one item on the right side

Click on Edit, and then Select All (Or hit Ctrl–A)

Click on Edit, and the Copy (Or hit Ctrl–C)

Then Paste everything into a reply.

Then click on Services

Click on one item on the right side

Click on Edit, and then Select All (Or hit Ctrl–A)

Click on Edit, and the Copy (Or hit Ctrl–C)

Paste everything into the post, select and highlight everything you just pasted, and hit the «pre» button (It says «Code Blocks» when you hover your mouse over it). That'll make the information much more readable.

AVG is the first suspect, and I would temporarily uninstall it with their uninstall utility. Then I'd try out WoW, and reinstall AVG afterwards.

Have you ever had any other type of security program, like Norton or McAfee?

What kind of wifi hub, or router, do you have?
